Post  seeka Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:22 am

being an art lover, i thought we needed a thread for anyone to show what they do.

it doesn't need to be strictly 'surf art'..it can be anything from late night scribbles to sculpture.

maybe poetry, trippy photography or film art....whatever you like, i'd like to see it.

i have some i'd like to show..so i'll go spend a few hrs and finish my latest project then load some pics later.

obviously any art anyone posts here will be copyright protected, so don't be a prick and steal someone else hard work.

so, in the mean time..go for it......

sounds awesome seeka, would love to see your work. I unfortunately have nothing to contribute (because I have no talent!)but I'm an avid appreciator, bring it on! The fact Phoam's whole site/bb is altogether way more arty-farty-er than the 'other' place pleases me no end. It's nice here. Smile

Although....you did mention poetry. I do do words, and in fact I was lying in bed the other night thinking how much I'd love to re-explore haiku. Watch this (art) space. study

poems are all good Kat Smile ..bring it.

scooter, your pics are a bit pixalated? and a bit hard to get the full gist..but letterboxes are good too. well done! :thumbs up:

    nice poem phoam.

thanks! i've only done a few watercolours since then..mostly for mates. i have been working on some art which i taught myself to do about 15 yrs ago..i felt an urge to get back into it again as i had a few ideas i wanted to try, and so far it's working out quite good. i havn't sold any of them yet though. but thats cool, i've had them framed and hanging on my lounge wall.

yes, i sent Roy a few.
i'm just loading some pics at the moment, but i'm back to dail up so it's taking ages..good thing i'm well practiced in the art of patience...i'll post them up soon.

would like to see some more of yours too.

    can't wait to see them.

I have been working on a massive canvas 60 inches across, a commission piece of blackhead in an abstract style.

I've done most of the headland, and just started on the sky and sea minus waves.

    yep

    brilliant work!
I've never really tried water colour.
but did dabble with powdered inks . a different technique
wetting the paper, and then sprinkling the dye on dry.
    got some different results.

and trying it out more traditionally on damp paper then outling with black india ink

    I used to experiment heaps

okay, this is my special art.
i call this art 'illumination'(because of the gold). it's my twist on an ancient art, inspired by the book of kells and the book of lindsfarne.

i use permanent ink on heavy 300gram paper..mistakes are tragic as i have to start again.
i build up minute dots to create the illusion of silver. then at the end i guild with pure 23carat gold. i won't use the cheap gold(ussually copper/bronze) because it tarnishes and turns green over time unless you seal it ..which i don't want to do on paper...anyway, nothing shines like pure gold.

there is a story(or message if you like) behind all the ilumination works i do..but i won't bore you with that.

i just finished this one this afternoon. it's about 500mmx400mm and has taken me 232 hrs...phew!!

i haven't settled on a name for this one yet, but i' quite liking 'universal divinity'..but i'm open to suggestion?

this is what they look like once framed. i get the framers to 'float' them without a matt and it gives an illusion of them being suspended in air.

the celtic spiral represents natural, human and devine aspects of life. symbolising the continuity of life and spiritual growth. it is the constant flow of natures processes going outward then inward as heaven and earth are joined.

I was just thinking that the contents of this thread, especially yours seeka, is definately not classed as garbage, or worthy of this forum
(no offence intended to other topic starters and posters)
I thought perhaps a shift to the photography and video forum with a rename to

    ???

    well i will shift it.

you need to resize it to 640 pixels wide
otherwise leave it as it is, and anyone can right click it and go view image and it will open in a new window by its self.

You guys, this stuff's incredible. I have SO much admiration (and envy) for people like you two that can conceptualise something like that and bring it to life. Well done!

Seeka I have a friend who does pointulism (sp?) and that 'looping in and out' style of sculpture & drawing and would love your stuff, I'll be showing her this thread. And Phoam, those two watercolour-ish pieces of yours...wow...keep experimenting coz you're REALLY good at it! sunny

I have the Wave Forms' series, which is just sort of swirls of solid colour lined with black.
and the Geo Surf series (with cutaway geography features).
